Creative ideas for cleaning around your home!

Home made fabric refresher (Febreze©)
4 cups hot water

2 cups baking soda

2 cups fabric softener

Mix hot (not boiling) water with the baking soda until it is dissolved. Mix in the fabric softener and pour into fine mist spray bottles. Spray on furniture, rugs, or any fabric you wish to refresh. Note however: This may stain some surfaces so please test it out in a small unnoticeable area first.

Home made window cleaner

There are many recipes for window cleaner out there, many calling for ammonia and requiring rubber gloves for use, due to the fact it is toxic. Below is a safe recipe even children can use!

1 quart of water

¼ cup white vinegar

Mix solution and put in a spray bottle. We use newspaper for lint and streak free window cleaning.

Furniture polish

This is super easy and works beautifully with things you have in your pantry.

2 cups olive or vegetable oil

1 cup lemon juice

Combine oil and lemon juice in a spray bottle. Gently spray a small amount on wood surface and rub in with a soft clean cloth. Turn cloth over and buff to a shine.

Baking Soda

The next time your parmesan cheese container is empty (assuming yours is plastic) clean it out well, remove the label and fill it with baking soda. I keep this on hand for scrubbing the tub, sink, pans, and so much more! Keeping it in this container makes it so easy to grab and use!

Fabric softener replacement

Some time ago, a white vinegar bottle replaced my liquid softener. It is a wonderful and natural softener for laundry, that also helps remove detergent residue from clothing in the rinse stage. Just add ½ cup to the rinse cycle. If you are concerned that the smell will stay in the clothing; be assured the smell leaves in the drying process, none of my family have ever smelled like a salad.

Used dryer sheets don’t toss them reuse them!

Wipe the screen of your television to reduce dust drawn in by static electricity, as well as dusting of ceiling fans and knickknacks.

New dryer sheets

Use them to pick up pet hair! It works like magic!

A dryer sheet will remove soap scum from shower doors-just clean with a new sheet.

Hang them on your patio away from children and pets; they are said to repel mosquitoes.

Add to your linen closet, and drawers, to keep linens and clothing smelling sweet for weeks!
